Year 6 Holocaust Centre Visit - Thu 19 Jan 2017

Our Year 6 pupils visited the National Holocaust Centre in Laxton on Thursday to develop their understanding of British Values further as well as to consolidate their learning in the Autumn Term on World War Two. Impeccably behaved and respectful, the pupils were able to demonstrate their knowledge of the period whilst learning about the irrationality of Hitler's persecution of the Jews. Following the fictional diary of Leo (a young Jewish boy in Germany), the children saw the events leading to the Kinder Transport  through a number of tactile rooms and exhibits. In the afternoon, the children were able to listen to a survivor of the Holocaust and learn about how life was at the time as well as any lessons we can take forward into the future. A thoroughly thoughtful and poignant day.
